aukštoji mokykla statusas T sritis švietimas apibrėžtis Mokslo, mokymo ir auklėjimo įstaiga, kurioje rengiami aukštos kvalifikacijos įvairių sričių specialistai ir mokslo darbuotojai. Seniausios aukštosios mokyklos yra universitetai. Ilgainiui jie specializavosi ir iš jų išsiskyrė akademijos, institutai. Lietuvoje aukštosios mokyklos yra universitetai, akademijos, kolegijos. Joms suteikta autonomija. Universitetinė aukštoji mokykla turi teisę teikti mokslo laipsnius ir vardus. Tos teisės neturi kolegijos. atitikmenys: angl. higher school vok.
